include Earning Codes, Deduction
Codes, and Deduction Codes.
How do I print my earnings
statement, commonly known as View Paycheck?
When printing your on-line earnings statement, please note that
Internet Explorer users will need to either print it in landscape
mode or reduce the size of the document as follows:
In Internet Explorer:
- Click anywhere on the "View Paycheck" frame (or page).
- In the browser window, select File > Print Preview.
- In the Print Preview window, select 75% of page from the drop down window.
- Select 'Only the Selected Frame' from the drop down window.
- If the far-right numbers are still truncated, adjust your left and right margins to .5 using File > Page Setup.
- Click print in the upper left-hand corner.
Netscape and Mozilla users should be able to print the "View Paycheck" document without any adjustments.
I need to pick up paper paychecks
for some employees. How do I do that?
You will continue to pick up paychecks at the Central Payroll
office in Tigert at the usual schedule. The checks will be sorted
in DeptID number then alpha, last name.
How can I find out my 2004 total
income and taxes paid prior to the arrival of 2004 W-2s?
This year, due to the transition to a new payroll system
mid-year, the Year-to-Date (YTD) amount on your last earnings
statement in 2004 does not provide a full year of data if you
were employed at UF prior to June 18, 2004. If you need to know
your 2004 Federal Tax Withholding prior to the W-2 forms being
distributed by the university (which will be on or before January
31 as required by federal law), you will need to add together the
YTD amounts from your last State-issued paycheck on June 25, 2004
and your December 23, 2004 paycheck from UF.
If you did not keep a copy of your June 25, 2004 State paycheck, you may print an on-line copy. Sign on to myUFL portal > Quick Links > Admin Menu > My Self Service > Review My Pay Warrants > State Employees. If you have never done this before, you will first need to register. Please click on the link entitled "New to Employee's Information." Otherwise, click on the second link, enter your SSN and password (or reset your password).
If you do not have a copy of your December 23, 2004 UF paycheck that shows the Year-to-Date (YTD) Amount for tax withholdings, then please contact your departmental administrator who handles payroll and have them print out an earnings statement for you (using the UF Earnings Statement Print functionality in myUFL).
I am an international employee
(Nonresident Alien). How will this transition to the new payroll
affect me?
The IRS deadline for mailing 1042-S forms to international
employees is March 15, 2005. We will be receiving the 1042-S
forms from the Bureau of State Payrolls by March 15, 2005 and it
is possible that you could receive two 1042-S forms (one from the
Bureau of State Payrolls and one from UF). Both forms will be
distributed at the same time to the departmental payroll
administrators by March 15, 2005. International employees
should NOT file their US income tax returns until they receive
their 1042-S forms.
Direct Deposit
How do I submit my Direct Deposit
Authorization Form?
Beginning June 1, 2004 all direct deposit actions should be
submitted to University Payroll Services instead of the State
Comptroller's Office. The University Controller's Office has
revised the employee Direct Deposit Authorization Form.
How do I make a change to my
banking information?
Submit a new Direct Deposit Authorization Form to make any
changes to your banking information. Select 'Change' as the
Direct Deposit Action Requested.
What if I have questions
regarding my direct deposit?
Please contact University Payroll Services at 392-1231.
Net Pay
Why is my net pay different in
the new system from when payroll checks were computed by the
Bureau of State Payrolls (BOSP)?
Some small differences in your net pay may occur. Some of the
Bureau of State Payrolls' computation methods differed from
PeopleSoft methods. For example, the taxable value of Group Term
Life, although a small amount for those qualifying employees, is
taxable income reported on your W-2. BOSP withholds Social
Security and Medicare taxes but does not withhold federal income
tax. In PeopleSoft, Social Security, Medicare and federal income
tax will be withheld on the taxable value of Group Term Life.
This change does not change your taxable income for the year; it
merely increases your federal tax withholding by a small amount.
I understand there are two basic
methods for computing federal income taxes. One is the Table Rate
for regular wages and the other a Supplemental Rate at 25% for
many of the non-regular payments such as bonuses. Which method
does PeopleSoft used?
The Table Rate will be used for all payments with one exception.
The Supplemental Rate will be used to compute the gross-up
amount for Superior Accomplishment Awards only. Generally the
amount withheld will be in proportion to your regular wages. If
your regular pay is relatively low, your taxes withheld will be
relatively low. If your earnings are relatively large and you are
in a high-income bracket, your withholdings will be higher on
non-regular payments.
View Paycheck
What is View Paycheck?
UF employees can view or print a copy of their on-line earnings
statement on the myUFL portal > My Self Service > Payroll and
Compensation > View Paycheck.
Where can I find out what all
these codes mean on my earnings statement?
On the Bridges Web site, go to Services > Payroll > Resources and
you will find the most current list of codes for
earnings,
deductions, and
employee paid taxes.
How do I find prior earning
statements in myUFL?
Navigate to View Paycheck and then click on "View a Different
Payment." Please note that when looking at prior compensation
the dates listed are based on the last day of the pay cycle, not
the date the check was cut. For example, if you are looking for
the December 23, 2004 paycheck, you should click on the December
16, 2004 link.
Why can't I see YTD amounts in
prior earning statements?
As designed, "View Paycheck" in myUFL only shows the YTD amount
on the current payroll (i.e., the earnings statement that is
displayed when you first click on the View Paycheck link
in myUFL). Because retroactive changes may occur, the current
display always has the most accurate information.
The address on "View Paycheck" is
incorrect or missing. What do I do?
This means you do not have a Permanent Home Address listed in the
UF Directory (which differs from the Local Home Address). Please
update this in the UF Directory by logging on to the myUFL portal
and following this navigational path:
> My Account > Update My Directory Profile > Click on the orange header "Addresses and Phone Numbers" > Select "Add New Addresses and Related Phone Numbers" link on left-hand menu and add the "Permanent Home Mailing Address."
Important Note: If you leave the "first day in effect" and "last day in effect" as they are, the address will take effect the same day you added it and will remain in effect until a change is made (RECOMMENDED).
Faculty and staff may also contact their Directory Coordinator to help them update or change their address (or other information) stored in the UF Directory. The Directory is the sole source of contact information for the University and is used to populate the myUFL systems. Changes made in the Directory should be reflected within 24 hours.
For Administrators
What is the Schedule of Paydays
for 2004-2005?
The Schedule of Paydays and Critical Dates for fiscal year
2004-2005 can be accessed on the Payroll, Finance and Accounting
website at
Schedule of Paydays and Critical Dates for Fiscal
Year 2004-2005.
I need to pick up paper paychecks
for some employees. How do I do that?
You will continue to pick up paychecks at the Central Payroll
office in Tigert at the usualschedule.
How do I run cost distribution
reports for my cost center for previous pay periods?
In Enterprise Reporting, navigate to Human Resources Information
> Pay Information > Payroll Cost History. These reports will
provide you access to historical information. Current Pay Cycle
reports are limited to most recent two pay periods.
Why can't I run paylists for
prior payrolls?
The purpose of the Paylist report in Enterprise Reporting is to
check for errors in payroll before paychecks are cut. The Paylist
report documents who is being paid and the payroll processor then
accepts the payroll or notifies the payroll office before checks
are produced. You should use the Cost Distribution reports for
documenting what and how payroll was posted in the past.
I have questions about the
payroll amounts listed. Who do I call?
University Payroll Services at 392-1231.
I have questions about why
payroll costs were distributed as reported. Who do I call?
Your departmental administrator entering the distributions or
University Accounting Services at 392-1324.
