myUFL Portal Splash Page
The myUFL portal "splash page" is the screen you see when you sign on to https://my.ufl.edu/. It is updated weekly to provide information regarding UF events and the myUFL Systems. The page is an excellent communication tool to disseminate information to UF faculty members, staff, and students. It is available for use by authorized UF departments and organizations.
To request a space for your communication, send a message to info@bridges.ufl.edu. We recommend that you reserve your page well in advance to ensure open space.
Splash Page Standards
The goal for campus communicators is to have more consistency in identifying the university and its parts, while preserving the flexibility demanded by a decentralized university culture. Standards have been developed to assist communicators to achieve this goal on the myUFL portal splash page.
Word Count
- Research has shown web users generally prefer writing that is concise, easy to scan, and objective in style. Users should not have to scroll to view all of the information on the page. With this in mind, it is recommended that the word count for splash page announcements is no greater than 125 words in length.
- Register for the course Writing for the Web: Style & Design at the Center for Instructional Technology to learn more about tailoring your content for web readers.
Image Standards
- The header/banner text (see example below) is a JPG image.

- The dimensions of the banner image are 550 x 60 pixels. The background color must be #DBDEF1 (Hex) or 219, 222, 241 (RGB). Download the image below to customize the header/banner text in Photoshop to meet your needs.

Roles and Responsibilities
Contributors to the myUFL Splash page are responsible for the proofing of and final approval of the page. Although the Bridges development team will validate the HTML and optimize any graphics, the contributor must review the content to be sure it makes sense, proof spelling and grammar, and test any provided links. The proofing/approval process begins at least a week prior to a page going "live" to ensure there is enough time for testing and potential edits.
Contributors will have the opportunity to preview and approve the page two times as it migrates across the Bridges testing environments; first in TST (testing) and finally in QAT (quality assurance). Approval at each stage is required before moving to the next. Approval in the QAT environment authorizes the publication of the page.
Final approvals must be received by close of business the Thursday prior to publication. The page will go into production after 5:00 p.m. on Friday and before 8:00 a.m. on Monday.
