Using FTP to Exchange Information with the University of Florida
Vendors, government agencies, University of Florida (UF) units, and other entities may use electronic data transmission to send information to the University or receive data from the University. The University uses File Transfer Protocol (FTP) and all transmissions are encrypted using PGP (GPG) technology. To send information to or receive information from the University, you must meet the requirements below.
To provide information to the University, you must be able to put files on the UF FTP server (ftp.erp.ufl.edu). Requirements are below. To receive data from the University, we must be able to put data on your FTP server.
Please print and complete the UF Information Exchange Application form available here in PDF format. Send the completed form to the UF Information Exchange Coordinator at P.O. Box 113275, Gainesville, FL 32611–3275 or (352) 273–1009 (FAX).

Requirements to receive information from the University of Florida
- Provide UF with an FTP username, password, and the name of your FTP server. Please be sure to disable password expiration. If you are unable to do so, please inform us so we can make appropriate accommodations.
- Provide any specific file location and naming conventions that your organization may have (such as directory location or names of transferred files). If no such information is provided, the default FTP home directory will be assumed, along with UF–generated file names including timestamps.
- Provide UF with your organization’s public PGP key. We will encrypt data sent to you using our private key and your public key.
The University of Florida is using GnuPG v1.2.3, and encrypting files using CAST5 cipher. GnuPG respects Cipher preferences and we currently maintain compatibility with all known implementations of PGP. If your PGP software has specific requirements or interoperability issues, please inform us in advance.
Please contact (352) 392–HELP (4357) for assistance in establishing your FTP username and password, sending or obtaining PGP keys, and all other information discussed in this document.
